1st position as the overall Best Managed Co-operative CountrywideNewFortis Sacco, formerly known as Nyeri Teachers Savings and Credit Co-operative Society, emerged the Best Managed Co-operative Coutrywide at the Ushirika Day gala night, a ceremony that was recently held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.
It also won the award for Best Managed Teachers Sacco and trophy for being the best in training and Education services, Teachers Sacco category.New Forties Sacco, whose membership stood at 10,314 as at December 2015, also took second position as the Sacco with the Highest Average Savings per member and also took the second po-sition as the Best Insured Sacco in the Country.
It also scooped third position as Teachers Sacco with the Highest Dividend Payout.While occupying top position overall at the National Ushirika Day fete, NewForties also dis-played its prowess at the Nyeri County Ushirika Day celebrations.In the Urban Category, New Fortis Sacco re-ceived an award for Sacco offering the Highest Interest on Unwithdrawable Deposits, at 12.2 per cent.
The ï¬rst position in this category went to Tambuzi Sacco which had 14 per cent while the third position was taken by Mukurwe-ini Staff Sacco at 12 per cent. This was at the Nyeri County Ushirika Day celebrations held at the YMCA Hall in Nyeri Town. During this event, Barichu Farmers Co-operative from Mathira won ï¬rst position after paying farmers Sh 63.06 per Kilogram of Coffee followed by Gikanda Farmers Co-operative in position two and Othaya Farmers Co-operative Society, occupying the third position in this cat-egory.
Rumukia Farmers Co-operative Society scooped the award for making the Highest Per Cent Payment to coffee farmers at 85.16 per cent, followed by Gakuyu Farmers Co-operative at 85 per cent and Othaya Farmers Co-operative at 84.29 per cent.The award of Highest Payment Rate in the Dairy Sector was scooped by Island Farmers Co-operative Society, at 91.55 per cent, followed by Mweiga Farmers Co-operative and Endarasha Farmers Co-operative Societies, all from Kieni West. Kieni factory was top as Best Factory in terms of payment, which paid Sh 80.80 per Kg of coffee.
Rural Saccos which paid the Highest Dividend in 2015 was Wakulima Commercial Sacco, at 12 per cent while Enea Sacco paid 10 per cent and Taifa Sacco nine per cent.Wakulima Commercial Sacco also won the top award for Sacco offering Highest Interest on unwithdrawable deposits, at 9 per cent.In the Urban Sacco category, Highest Paid Dividend Award, 2015 went to Nyewasco Sacco which paid 20 per cent. Moukenbot Sacco took second position while third position went to Mt Kenya Schools Sacco at 17.5 per centIn the Transport Sacco category, Nyena Sac-co scooped top position with the Highest Divi-dend at 50 per cent while Nyesuma Sacco paid 40 per cent and 2NK Sacco took third position at 30 per cent.In business based Saccos category, Biashara Sacco won the price for Highest Dividend payout at 16 per cent. The most supportive cooperative organization in year 2015 was CIC followed by Nyeri Cooperative Union Limited.
